Juneau is Southeasts largest city, Alaska's capitol, and some of the best glacier viewing in the world. It is built between Mt. Juneau and the Gastineau channel. It has a population of 29,251 people.Main attractions of the area are: The Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau Icefield, Eaglecrest Ski Resort, and St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church. There are 12 hotel/motels, 23 bed & breakfasts, 64 restaurants, many shopping centers in the downtown and outlaying areas, and two large enclosed shopping malls.
Transportation is provided by daily jet service from Seattle, Anchorage, Fairbanks and other major Southeast cities. Air taxi service from all Southeast cities, State Ferry vessels, and all classes of cruise ships. There is also rental cars, public bus service, charter airplanes, helicopters, boats and taxi service.
